Plants in home

Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That goes far beyond doing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is doing its.

Here are four that we find very helpful here in Lake Charles:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside as well. There are various choices that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Swap your furnace filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s typically recommended to switch your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some could last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they could likely better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having furnace service done annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 337-335-0992 or schedule an appointment online to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
